In THE SANDMAN #1, Morpheus, the Sandman of the Endless, was shown to have been imprisoned for years in a glass cage by Roderick Burgess. Burgess, who had intended to capture Morpheus' sister Death in order never to grow old, imprisoned the master of Dreams instead.
